Withdrawal Symptoms
While undergoing cessation, there may be a few symptoms of withdrawal. It is very necessary to cope up with these symptoms in order to continue with cessation.
| • | Headaches - Drink plenty of water, use mild analgesics and take rest. |
| • | Depression - Speak to some friend or family member, or use positive self talk. If the depression is intense and does not go away, consult your doctor. You can think about the money you have saved by not buying cigarettes and how you can spend it. You can also try to think of how healthy you will become when you will never smoke and can call yourself smoke free. |
| • | Tenseness - Take deep breaths and go for walks. Also try meditation and soak yourself in warm water. |
| • | Insomnia - Try some relaxation exercises before bed and avoid drinking beverages which contain caffeine like tea, coffee, cola etc. |
| • | Change in Appetite - Try to follow a well balanced diet and eat healthy and low fat snacks like fruits and vegetables. |
